Sacred Heart Schools: Newsnotes 2014

W E D N E S D A Y | December 3, 2014

Students from the 1970s prepare to move
their lambs.

When students arrived on campus this Monday they found a crèche constructed in the back of our chapel. Surrounding the crèche are lambs making their way to visit the side of the manger. Each member of our community has his or her own lamb which is identified with a small label on the bottom of the figurine. Each day during Advent lambs make progress toward the manger.

During some of the history of Sacred Heart education, a lamb’s progress could be hastened by good behavior, and of course less than wise choices prevented expected advancement. Nevertheless, as grace would have it, before Christmas morning every lamb would make its way into the presence of the Christ child.

This Sacred Heart tradition is a wonderful reminder that Advent is a journey—resembling the journey of life itself—into the Presence of God. It is also a wonderful reminder that each of us is part of the flock gathered by St. Madeleine Sophie and shepherded by the Good Shepherd Himself. At graduation, each graduate receives his/her lamb as a gift from the community.

Please feel free to stop by the chapel and visit our crèche.

May your Advent bring you closer to the vision of God made Flesh.

- Nat Wilburn, Head of Schools

Annual Fund
2014 is almost a wrap! It is still possible to fulfill your Annual Fund pledge or make a tax-deductible gift in anticipation of the calendar year-end by
donating online through December 31. Approximately 56% of current families have already pledged and contributed this school year!

Your contribution may also qualify for a matching gift through your employer. Corporate matching gift programs are a great way to double or triple the size of your gift.
Find out more about matching gifts and whether your employer can multiply the impact of your gift to Sacred Heart.
